Salky hounds were genetically-created creatures bred by a bioengineering firm contracted by the Galactic Republic for use as a trained security beast. They were bred from numerous different galactic specimens, resulting in sharp claws, keen senses, impressive jaw strength, and an aggressive demeanor. While effective, the Salky hounds were brutal and difficult to control. They would break handler control and attack targets with lethal force, resulting in several dozen deaths before the military recalled the hounds. After the Republic canceled the contract, the hounds were banned from the Core Worlds. However, many breeding pairs were sold quietly on the black market, and the hounds later appeared on dozens of worlds.
